Press the Windows + R keys on your keyboard to open the Run utility. However, the results can be visually confusing because color changes can be format changes. Follow any on-screen instructions to repair Word, then check if the spell checker works.
The color of Track Changes for formatting is customizable. In this window, make sure and select Keyboard & Character Viewer (to see what symbols are where at a glance) and Show input menu in menu bar. In Word for Mac, meanwhile, the process is: Go to Word > Preferences via the toolbar. Click the Show vertical ruler in Print Layout view checkbox (you can also select to display this ruler on the right margin here). Some of them are shown and some of them are hidden by default. Therefore, your color choices won’t transfer to someone else’s computer. To do this in Word for Windows: Go to File > Options > Advanced and scroll down to Display. There are many formatting marks in Word document, such as tab characters, spaces, paragraph marks, hidden text, optional hyphens, object anchors, optional breaks and so on. Track Changes colors are stored in your computer, not in your document. Track Changes colors appear in-line (i.e., in the text) rather than in balloons or the Reviewing pane. Word doesn’t currently offer a way to choose specific colors for individual users.
